Cellular respiration question

Post by maccha » Sun Dec 13, 2009 5:40 am

My biology notes define aerobic respiration as when oxygen is used as a terminal electron acceptor.
What I'm wondering is that can oxygenic photophosphorylation, using NAPH as a terminal electron acceptor, still be considered aerobic respiration?

Probably your notes do not end as you did, but probably continue with something like "in respiration", right?
Photophosphorylation is not respiration.

Cis or trans? That's what matters.

how about defining aerobic as respiration that requires oxygen

safe and sound
it isn't what you do that matters but it is how you do it

NAPH is produced in anaerobic respiration.

and one more thing that you should keep in mind is that the final electron and hydrogen acceptor is oxygen
it isn't what you do that matters but it is how you do it
