Conservation of Energy in Glucose and Palmitate Catabolism

Post by kaitloves » Tue Dec 08, 2009 4:48 pm

How and why is energy conserved in the catabolism of glucose and palmitate, with respect to free energy changes and chemical equilibrium?

Why? because that's why you break down these compounds in order to drive processes in your body.
How? By coupling energetically favorable reactions with some sort of energy storage usually leading to production of ATP.

Cis or trans? That's what matters.
