Well, I could say I know 7 languages
BUT, polish and slovak are very similar to czech, my native language (at least slovak is, but I can also understand polish).
German and English I have learnt at school (I had to)
and the last two are Esperanto and Japanese, but in both I know just few words, I have never really learned them

Right, is the problem the fact your in a room of genius' when you'd only describe yourself as "ok"? If so, I could say I had this problem last year. I was in a class full of A* students, whereas I was predicted a D.
All I can advise you do is stick with it, read, make notes, and re-read your notes to check their right. Shy or not, you Must ask for help (hope thats enough emphasis on the must!). I was shy, but I wouldn't stop pestering my teachers/peers until I thoroughly understood what I was "taught" in class.
PS, now on target for B/A, so it isn't mission impossible (just damn hard)

Don't mind me, just your average Biology student =)
