Mathematical Question on Biology!!!..please reply

Post by shsnk » Thu Sep 17, 2009 1:14 am

Hi all,

I have a question in biology. What is the relation between human genome, number of reads and the read size?!! I have taken bioinformatics course and does'nt know much about biology(since biology is not my major!). So please help me understand the above mentioned relation. I have an assignment which i can solve once I know the relation between the three I mentioned above.

Thanks in advance.

I’m not sure that I understand :s Sequence can be read in 6 ways(3 from every strand)because 3 nucleotides are one aminoacid,4th nucleotid wouldn’t change reading,it’s only second aminoacid..
(these are only ways of reading, you need more data to find a gene)

Do you know how to calculate a percentage? Because in this case that is all they ask you...
