what is the simplest among the monosaccharides? thanks

Monosaccharides means just one molecular of sugar. Thus take your pick of glucose, lactose, galactose, mannose, xylitose, for the six carbon sugar, but there is also the five carbon sugar fructose.

Glyceraldehyde....or Trioses. These are the smallest or simplest of monosaccharides. Hope it helps.
