Why is exercise important?

Post by whizzbee » Thu Jan 15, 2009 12:52 pm

Well, everybody knows it, exercise=health, try to work out -- it's good for our health.

Yesterday, my friend asked me: why is exercise important? and all i could think of was turning fat to calories and losing weight. :|
But actually why is exercise important from the biological point of view?
always aim for the sky, for if you fail, at least you can reach the clouds..

Along with maintaining weight as you mentioned, exercise maintains skeletal integrity by balancing osteocyte activity. Core strength is also maintained, which helps in everyday life.

Hi,

I think if we want to burn our calories and loss fat than we have to do some regular exercises and yoga. Exercise will help you out in this process and also contain a healthy diet and avoid Junk Food.

Well, our bodies are structured in a way that they are meant to keep on moving. A person who almost never walks a block to the grocery store and spends all of their time sitting typically loses a lot of their functions, and blood circulation slows down when we don't move our limbs much. Muscles also require use in order to replace themselves, otherwise they harden and become useless, and bones become brittle when not regularly supporting our movement. Ever look at kids on a playground and wonder why you can't jump around like that anymore? It probably has something to do with how you spend your time. Exercise helps to keep your whole body younger and able.

Hope that answered your question in some shape or form! :)
A scientist's job is to find answers without too many holes, or at least come up with interesting ideas with holes that no one will care about.
