exact number of known species?

Post by tjwoosta » Sat Dec 06, 2008 6:10 pm

I have been searching everywhere for an exact number of know species but every page i find says about 2 million.

I want an exact number.

How is it possible that we don't have an exact record of the number of species that we know about?

In many cases, there's no agreement in the scientific community as to whether two species should be classified as one single species, or if two subspecies should be classified as two separate species instead of one. Because of this uncertainty, it's impossible to have an exact number of classified species.
Generally speaking, the more people talk about "being saved," the further away they actually are from true salvation.
