Maybe the term "washing" here is adding HCl to let the erythrocytes burst out so the haemoglobin will come out from the cell. Then only haemoglobin will be transfused. Does it make any sense? :roll: :)

They do this already in ambulances in the US. Unfortunately, hemoglobin in this state lasts less than 24 hours in the body. It's a "quick fix" for when someone loses too much blood and needs some right away and their blood type cannot be determined, but as soon as the patient gets to the hospital, they need a whole blood transfusion.

In my case, they take the Hb also with the RBC (before it's already tested that both donor and recepient have the same type...) But, what makes me wonder is Andrew statements which said that there musn't be 2 same recepients that donor the blood. If they do that, there's a chance that the recepients will reject that.
So, in that case, every one month, there must be different person's blood which can be taken as donor??
