HELP PLEASE! Statistical application for biology experiment!

I am carrying out an experiment on Helice Crassa/tunnelling mud crab, observing how changes in salinity affect the number of aggressive interactions between individuals, and have come to the point where I need to include some statistical analysis, I have found several choices but I don't know which is relevant and which I should use!!!
Standard Deviation
Normal Distribution
The X^2 Test
These are afew.. I have already calculated the standard deviation but I am not sure if its relevant to my research... Please help, anything is appreciated asap.

If you only have one level of salinity to compare, i.e. only two groups, one a control and the other the experiment, then you only need to do a t-test. If you have more than one level of salinity to compare to the control, then you can do sequential t-tests, but ANOVA is designed for these kinds of cases. Chi-squared tests are goodness-of-fit statistics, which I suspect is probably not what you want.

and before applying T-test or ANOVA, it is indeed good to test for normality. And if you have a non normal distribution you will have to use non parametric tests like U-test
