why cant cells be smaller than 0.1 nano meters?

because you have to fit DNA, a few ribosomes, some enzymes, proteasomes, RNA degrading machines etc. And that stuff doesn't come in mini-size

DNA is around 2nm thick, a ribosome has a diameter of abbout 25nm.

the smallest micoplasma is just five times as large as a ribosome. that's hell of a good space economy
