Novel Protein Defined

Post by bjw » Thu Jun 02, 2005 7:49 pm

Greetings, I am a bit out of my league here...trying to research the production of industrial enzymes via food crops however I have a few basic questions that google is just not answering in laymen terms for me. Anyone?

A) What is a novel protein?

B)Why do some companies list "novel proteins" as the phenotype when in fact they are industrial enzymes?

Any insight is greatly appreciated!

A novel protein, i would think, would mean a protein of new origin. I do not know about the second question.
