There was this advert advertising cat food that says that cats' heart beats 2 times the rate of a humnans. I don't know if this is true but it does sort of prove that smaller animals have quicker heartbeats as they need oxygenated blood quicker as they usually need to move quicker away from larger predators.

That is true. It is a proven fact that smaller animals have faster heart beat

Deja Vu! But interesting nonetheless. They say human life could be extended by cardiac slowing, so basically if we lie down all day watching TV, we'll live longer. :P
