A Marine Biology Question

Post by Ice Dragon » Thu Dec 23, 2004 1:34 pm

I was wondering if anyone knows the true job title for someone who searches for, studies, and bases all of his/her carrier on the creatures of the deep. (i.e. anglerfish, ect.)

I was looking up some sites when I came across this site listing careers in marine biology. Looks like those who studies in deep sea mammals are just called simply "Marine mammal biologist."

No sense

That makes no sense. Study deep sea biology is also the study of whales and other deep living creatures. So mammals are part of deep sea marine biology.

Probably should've read what Ice posted in the first place, Snake. He asked about the name of the job of one who studies creatures of the deep, and the anglerfish is just one example of a creature of the deep.

Very few mammals live in the benthic zone of the ocean...a deep sea biologist would not focus on mammals.

How true, biostudent. My last post stands corrected. My apologies.
