Fruit Flies - There are many easy low cost experiments involving fruit flies

Would you by any chance be writing an extended essay for IB?

Drosophila melanogaster is an option. I would do something with plants if i were you(but of course i am planty guy)-like testing the effects of cigarette smoke on plants. Hey, that's a great idea, i might actually do the experiment

Definitely fruit flies. Very inexpensive and easy to do.

thanks for the help do you guys know how i could study a certain 37 acre nature park near my home that has been converted from a huge garbage dump into a lush green area. 80 different species of birds 38 species of butterflies exist there. I m mainly thinking of ecology here. maybe experiments on soil samples, certain gas emissions, water utility, pestcides. any other biologival variables u could suggest? thanks

You could calculate the size of each population through the marking and recapturation method
