lool dont exclude other biology fields. Ligands are just proteins/peptides/ other various molecules that bind to a receptor, and then causes some function to happen on the cells the receptor is on.

ligand receptor binding are similar to enzyme/substrate binding where the recognition is very specific. both receptors and enzymes are often sites of drug targets. Write about that,
