Let's do a critique

Post by roniadam » Wed Apr 25, 2007 3:55 pm

Hi all:

I would like to present an article to all of you so we can discuss it and do some critique on it. At the end of this discussion we will have a good background on the topic. Please download the article
The following points needed:
1-Brief introduction.
2-The main aim of the research?
3-Was the aim met? Why?
4-What was the outcome of the work?
5-Was the research methodology sound?
6-Do you agree with the conclusion drawn, based on your interpretation of data?
:)

You should worry a little about copyright violations. If the paper is in the public domain, you're fine to post it, but if not, then you need to get permission from the publisher first. You might be better off forming a private group for your virtual journal club.

This is a good idea. Let's do with free-access journal. Though free journal s not new, but it is always nice to discuss, to improve our knowledge :)

The public library of science (http://www.plos.org/journals/index.html) is an editor of very good journal with completely free access. Many other editors give free access to their archive after 6 months or one year. A quite extensive list in the medicine/biology field can be found there And I am talking a bout peer-reviewed resaerch journal.

You can just publish a link toward the article and then the discussion can start. Or to be more like a journal club, give the link, a short description (not the abstract, but what you have taken out of the paper) and some comments (problems, points of interest, etc..) to start the discussion.
