H.M. and SMC

Post by biology_06er » Mon Mar 26, 2007 1:23 pm

Hey there

I'm writing an essay at the moment and am writing a bit about H.M. and how his memory can be referred to the SMC theory...the other studies I have looked at refer to MTT, just wondering besides H.M are there many people/studies youknow/heard of that have little or major hippocampus damage and are sitll able to recall episodic memories? (I don't wanna write about them-so over writing lol) but just curious...how is it that some ppl with hippocampal damge can and can't remember episodic memories (I should have listened more in class! grr)...they have the two theories right?...well do you just "assign" a theory to a patient that is best suited to the theory..and if so how do the people/person that came up with the theories eg: the guy that came up with MTT, how does he explain the fact the H.M. is able to recall childhood episodic memories?

Cheers
