The Info shows that the spider is a carnivore and the percentage of food that is respired is 17.5kJ and used in growth is 27.0kJ. How do you calculate the percentage of the food eaten that is lost as faeces and urine by the spider? So how do I work this one out? I am not good at understanding the formula C= P + R + (U+F)..I would be grateful if anyone can help me with it

C= the energy value of the food that the animal eats, which refers to the animal's total food consumption

P=the energy value of the animal's secondary production, which refers to the animal's muscle mass and fat mass that increase due to growth

R= the energy value used by the animal itself for cellular respiration and other metabolic processes

U+F= the heat energy released through urination and defecation

hope that helps...
