This might belong in the botany forum but...
What is the function of the cystoliths in a plant's leaves. I know that they are crystals of some calcium compound, but what is their purpose.

they are storage. Plant stores them in sac like structure to avoid being harmed by the substance. At least that's what they said to us in our first year. :)
