Missing 19th Chromosome

Post by EmmVeePee » Thu Dec 15, 2005 3:15 am

Is there a disease caused by a missing 19th chromosome?

Thanks.

Yes, death probanly.
I don't think that the gamete would be vital.

What he meant to say was viable. And yes i agree with him, a missing pair of chromosoms will result in death

Yeah, I did some research.

Not a missing pair, but haploid expression of the 19th chromosome messes up dosages and ends with embryo death. It is possible to have a monosome of a chromosome, but not in this case.

Sure it is. Think of Turner sindrome...
