It is generally known that the expression of flower colour in Mirabilis jalapa shows incomplete dominance of Red colour over white. I also read a conflicting article that the deviation may due to the role of extra nuclear DNA that is thought to play a role in determining the somatic characters. Can somebody kindly clarify this doubt as to the cause of this apparent discrepancy. Also what are kappa particles?

Edit: Remember that mendelian genetics deals with inheritance, but dominance is dealing with expression of genes so you might have some epigenetic effects in play here.
