'Binary fission' is probably the more specific term you are looking for. Some unicellular eukaryotes go through binary fission rather than mitosis, but binary fission is most commonly known as the primary form of cellular reproduction in prokaryotes.

The Process is called Binary Fission. In Prokaryotic organisms like bacteria do not have any cell membrane present surrounding their cellular DNA. So, it is impossible for them to split into exact copies like in Eukaryotic organisms. So, to reproduce, Binary fission comes into existence. The Binary Fission is a very important concept in Biology and is asked in many competitive exams as well like NEET, AIIMS, and JIPMER. Through Binary Fission, The single chromosome is replicated, and the two copies split into two halves of a dividing cell.
