Need Help w/ Media Prep: How to make Tributyrin agar?

Post by AllyMC » Thu Feb 24, 2011 7:17 pm

Hi all-
I am trying to make tributryin agar plates for a lipid hydrolysis test. I want to know if the agar base that is typically used is a just a nutrient agar base or is there a specific base for tributyrin. I found somewhere that the ratio is 10 ml/L of tributyrin to agar. Does this sound right? Lastly, I know the mixture needs to be emulsified prior to pouring. Are there any tips or specific methods?
Thank you in advance for your help!
