Scientists Seeking Consensus on GMO and non-GMO Maize

Post by gmoafrica » Tue Oct 17, 2006 1:55 pm

Mr. Graham Brookes of PG Economics is doing something extraordinary. He's rallying scientists all over the world to sign onto a statement that affirms that genetically modified (GM) maize can coexist with non-GM maize. The "petition" is in response to EU Recommendation 2003/556/EC, a piece of legislation spelling out guidelines to be followed when formulating national strategies on GMOs and non-GMOs coexistence policies. Mr. Brookes would like scientists to loudly proclaim that scientific evidence exists affirming that GMOs and non-GMOs can grow side by side.
