Sore Throats!

Post by hurly » Sun Dec 03, 2006 10:19 am

I hate getting sore throats. You are either constantly swallowing your saliva or spitting. It's hard to swallow your food, making your meal less satisfactory. And believe me, I like to eat.

What are some effective remedies to cure a sore throat?

gargling salt water is a classic, lozenges usually ease the discomfort, but don't make it better, unless they're antibacterial

Honey and Lemon tea. Boil water and put some honey in it and lemon.

Even better, boiling ginger --- that is tea and drinking as often as you can really.

Honey is soothing so its good to put honey in all teas u may drink =)

place some lemon in salt, them keep it in your mouth.

Which doesn't seem to work too well for me but whatever.

Anyways, I had a sore throat once when I went to the beach, too much AC at night for 2 days straight, but when I was out on the beach the ext day, talking through my sore throat, a hour later, it was gone...

Maybe a trip to the beach and constantly breathing in salty sea water vapour in the air helps...

yup my grandmothers remedy too, ( lots of grandmaothers from different cultures) although we just took the honey and lemon on a spoon every two to three hours, for coughing too, and in tea in between.

research is currently underway to study natural antibiotic (Streptomyces) occuring in honey. organic is best

Yup, my grandmother always recommends honey and lemon for sore throats ;)

Avoid cold drinks as much as possible.

Vitamin C and B-complex please. They help you to maintain your health, thus opportunistic microorganisms which cause sore throat will stop bother you ;)

Kinda old and common-sense way to cure sore throat:

1) Drink more water

2) Avoid eating fried foods

3) Try out some anti-sore throat sweets which will help to alleviate the pain causes from the sore-throat itself.

:P
