Chest Hair Growth

Post by kjle » Wed Sep 20, 2006 10:07 am

So, I was talking to my brother, who claims to know everything about the body from an experienced point of view. I know what I know from a textbook. And that is basically the limit of my knowledge. Anyways he was telling me that a man may notice more hair on his chest as a result of...

1) Drinking alcohol. This is a longer term effect of drinking, and hair on the chest will grow if one drinks alcohol regularly.

2) Sex. Apparently, he noticed new hair growth, days after copulation. This I could see a biological connection with, as testosterone levels may be higher during increased sexual activity periods.

I was just curious if there is any confirmed backing to either of these myths. I would not know from experience, as I do not drink.

I can not think of any biological explanations for these. What effect does alcohol have on hair? Testosterone levels can change even if you have sex or not.

Growth or loss of hair is triggered by hormones. Maybe these things interfere with hormones?
