Is it possible to increase metabolism rate?

Post by BrendaMillerFisher » Thu Oct 12, 2017 7:29 am

Hello fellow biologists! Currently, I am working as a biology teacher in a high school. Yesterday I spoke with my students on dieting and the minimal amount of calories necessary per day for the organism to function properly and without any side effects. This is a topic initiated by them, because they are very much interested in loosing weigh, even the skinny ones. This is a problem per se, but I must admit I am never certain on what to respond when they ask me whether the metabolism can be boosted in a long-term. They are even using this basic metabolism rate calculator, https://healthiack.com/bmr-calculator which helps them find out their required calorie intake. What do you think of this topic?
