Re: How can i asses the parasie loading of littorina littoria?

Your species has an operculum and is marine, so I'm not sure if this would work. We used to collect freshwater snails to see if they had schistosomes. The snails would release cercariae when transferred to a vial of water. We could then see the released cercariae when the vial was held up to a light...

Yes. Check out GenBank http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/nuccore. Enter "glutamine synthetase" (with the quotation marks) and any animal whose genome has been sequenced, e.g. "Homo sapiens", "Caenorhabditis elegans".

Re: How do I create the sequence contig of this DNA?

Look for overlapping sequences. For example, Read 1 begins with tattat. Does this sequence occur in any of the other reads?

Re: creationists on this forum

Most of the creationists who come here do so because they believe that science has got it wrong. They believe this for a variety of reasons. The most common reason is childhood indoctrination into their beliefs. Once indoctrinated, the extension of rational thought from everyday life to the big ques...

Re: 'Evolution'-the most retarded myth ever.

Darn. You're uncovered our plot. We've been meeting secretly, underground, in the dark and have completely hoodwinked the ignorant masses for 150 years. But now you've exposed us. What am I going to do with my evil nature now? Kick cats?

Re: Evolution is not Darwinian

Anyone who thinks that life on Earth is the product of a single mechanism is a fool. Few evolutionary biologists do. Well that is pretty close to what the neo-Darwinian synthesis advocates, according to those narrow minded scientists evolution is driven by less than 5 mechanisms! That sounds like a...

Re: PCR: Low Primer Annealing Temperature Explanation?

A bit more detail. Three things: 1. Strands of DNA stick to each other through hydrogen bonding. 2. Hydrogen bonding will occur whenever and wherever conditions allow it. 3. The molecular world is a rather chaotic place, with molecules jostling about (Brownian motion) and with hydrogen bonds continu...

Re:

please correct me if my understanding is wrong OK. An allele is a version of a gene. Diploids that have two identical versions are homozygous. Diploids that have two different versions are heterozygous. A diploid individual can have a maximum of two alleles of a gene, one from the mother and one fr...

Re:

If you transform bacteria with the mixture of two plasmids, you will get some bacteria with one plasmid and some with the other and none with both of them. I have no idea why that would be. If someone knows the answer, please, post. I think it's just a numbers game. A very small proportion of cells...
