where have you read that birds have more dna than mammals? I think you have to compare number of base pairs aswell as number of genes.
Also which mammal? there are many :?

There are a few databases i know which I think may be useful: m The part of the above site which i have found useful is the cell cycle and signal tranduction reagents. m (The main site is in korean or japanese but obviously the above is in English.) Not sure if there are any reagents you are working...
