Just to that, the reason that the free radicals are so damaging is because they are just unstable molecules and so they "steal" electrons from cells so that they become stable. The result is that this leaves the cells damaged and this is how ageing occurs.

I know this might not be that useful now but its a type of habbitat that only contains one species e.g. when an invasive species (like himalayan balsam) outcompetes all species in an area leaving itself as the only species. Just in case you're still interested

I was in an animal behaviour lecture the other day, and there was a discussion about prey crypsis and camoflague techniques and the question was posed, "Why are there no green mammals?". It makes sense that in green environments then it would be in a preys interest to be green and blend in...
