How to study?

I am taking an Evolution & Ecology course an the University of Calgary. Unfortunately, there is zero supplementary material, only a lecture component. I desperately need some kind of practice midterm to test my knowledge. Can someone please point me in the right direction?

Reproductive Isolation

How does variance can result in reproductive isolation as a secondary consequence of natural selection? Heres my attempt: Natural selection can favor two extreme phenotypes, and select against against the majority. This can result in a disruptive selection, and ultimately to speciation. What else am...

Additive Effects vs Epistatic Effects

I'm having a hard time understanding the finer points (and consequences) of these two definitions. Heres what I know: Additive effects are when genes _at_ multiple loci can independently contribute to a phenotype. Epistatic - I'm finding several different definitions. One of them says this happens w...

Due to complicated paper work which I don't understand, this is the only 'title' I can be paid under. I volunteered here first. I developed a good relationship with my principle inve...

Food web question

I don't fully understand the concept of grazing food webs & detrital webs In specific, how can energy/matter be transfered from a detrital web to a grazing food web. -My book says that an earthworm eating dead leaves is an example of this. -A bacterium decomposing the feces of the worm is not. A...

Limiting growth factors in plants

I just did a lab on eutrophication. We designed a system with an upper terrestrial layer, and the bottom containing an aquatic layer. The top layer was fertilized, and several experiments were done using different concentrations of fertilizer. One of the questions I need to discuss in my presentatio...
