Been working in a virus lab last year yea, what we tried to do there is to figure out some hot spots that the HIV virus integrates into and working on ways to try to alter the structure of the HIV integrase so it no longer binds ... well it gets much complicated than that...so yea Latex all the way ...

cancer cells are immortal because they don't have telomere shortening.

You are right MrMistery but only if we are talking about the whole plant. I was thinking in terms of a single plant cell in solution; if we put a single planet cell in a beaker of solution, the diffusion of water will work like i said before; but if you are consider a whole planet, like a section of...

well don't cells usually just burst (lysis) if the water pressure in the cell is too high and the cell wall or membrane can't stand the stress? Water moves across the membrane by diffusion or through special protein channels call aquaporins ( not every organism have this), but i don't think animal c...

haha, this is a very difficult ethnical issue to consider. Genetic engineering basically alters an organism's DNA (indirectly changing the gene) so the phenotypic will be to our desires. I think a lot of people underestimate the influence of the enviroment on the expression of genes. Genes do not de...

Sorry, i think i kind of messed up the question. Cancer cells naturally have telomerase but nomral cells don't. When you take the telomerase and introduce it to a normal cell, the cell becomes immortal but also cancerous. I'm just wondering if it is possible to achieve the good stuff without the goo...

DNA

It may be technical, but can anyone suggest some ideas about keeping the Human DNA at its original length? Due to problems with the telomeres, DNA is shorten after rounds of replications. To preserve that, cancer cells have telomerase to fix it, but normal cells don't and when the enzyme is introduc...
