Photosynthesis, Cellular Respiration- Conservation of Energy

Photosynthesis is the process by which plants, some bacteria, and some protistans use the energy from sunlight to produce sugar, which cellular respiration converts into ATP, the "fuel" used by all living things. The photosynthesis overall reaction can be written as: 6H2O + 6CO2 → C6...

I think I made not myself clear.
My doubt is why signals jumping from node to node travel hundreds of times faster than signals traveling along the surface of the axon.

Thank you very much, anyway. For the links. :D

THE NERVOUS SYSTEM

Some axons are wrapped in a myelin sheath formed from the plasma membranes of specialized glial cells known as Schwann cells. Schwann cells serve as supportive, nutritive, and service facilities for neurons. The gap between Schwann cells is known as the node of Ranvier, and serves as points along t...

Photosynthesis

The removal of electrons from water molecules and their transfer to NADP+ requires energy. The electrons are moving from a redox potential of about +0.82 volt in water to −0.32 volt in NADPH. Thus enough energy must be available to move them against a total potential of 1.14 volts. Where does...

Chemosynthesis

First, sorry to put this topic in general discussion, but I haven't found any proper category to place it. I learnt chemosynthesis, but my text book and my teacher just give some ideas and not the full process. Some ideas are almost nothing to understand. For you to understand, I know that in chemos...
