Shaanu, stem cells are pluripotent i.e., they can give rise to all of the body cells derived from the three germ layers but it cant give rise to a new organism. They have varied uses these days in case of tissue loss or a very bad injury or a internal breakdown. But,the other side is VERY SCARY. It ...

About five years ago, biologists were surprised by the first discovery of an extremely large virus. Viruses are generally stripped down, efficient predators, only carrying as much DNA or RNA necessary to hijack their host and make extra copies of themselves. The newly discovered virus, called Mimivi...

crazy idea but, if u remember the miller and Urey experiment for origin of life, inorganic substances form the proteins. Does this mean that inorganic substances changed in form as time advanced in the young Earth???

Yes,it makes perfect sense. Here, another question arises. Does absence of endomembrane system have to mean that it can't be multicellular?? Since prokaryotes have lot of unevenings in their plasma membrane(invaginations and outgrowths)and because of their small size, they have a high surface area w...

why do we see very few multicellular prokaryote??
is it just because of their poor organisation??
or does it have something to do with stability??

sure enough but since it can make its proteins itself, my question is why does it need ribosomal proteins??? do ribosomal proteins define life???? if so, then viruses with protein coat would become living and prions too.And all other protein particles too would be living isn't it???

An antifungal foot cream called Ciclopirox shows abilities to STOP and ERADICATE HIV. It inhibits the expression of it's genes, blocks mitochondrial function and activates the cell suicide pathway. This spares the unaffected healthy cells. HIV couldn't bounce back even after Ciclopirox was removed.I...

Hello people. I hope we all know quite well about immunology. HIV attacks only T-lymphocytes. But, we have our innate immunity left and our B-lymphocytes go unaffected by HIV. The Natural Killer Cells,macrophages,interferons,etc.... we still have many defences left. Why dont we find a way to stimula...
