Depression: an overview

Most of people nowadays are afraid of physical diseases but they do not realize the seriousness of psychiatric diseases which are worsening day by day. One of the most prominent and serious psychiatric disease is depression. Depression is a mental disorder "characterized by sadness, loss of interest or pleasure, feeling of guilt or low self-worth, disturbed sleep or appetite"[1] and low energy and poor concentration. At its most severe, depression can lead to suicide.

To avoid the disease requires knowledge of causes which are early life experience, family genetics, and changes in brain chemistry, physical illness and stress. Those were the reasons, but what about the methods of treatment to get rid of this disease. The most effective treatment is the chemically manufactured drugs which are called anti depressed medications. Besides that, another treatment may not be too much gainful is Exercise. Finally, Depression patients are always advised to have more frequent psychological meetings. To sum up, as Prophet Mohammed said 'every disease has a treatment' but the success is to know correctly how to use this treatment.
