(Science: chemistry) A rare alkaloid found in the bark of an East indian apocynaceous tree (Wrightia antidysenterica), and extracted as a bitter white crystalline substance. It was formerly used as a remedy for diarrhoea.

Synonym: conessine, and neriine.
