What level of detail in our understanding are you looking for? One could reasonably argue that we don't understand how any process works; if you keep probing deeper, you uncover uncertainties.

I see. The question is, whether that is due to the program or the computer. If the program works, slowly, but works, the problem is probably rather with the computer and not with limitations of the program. (which doesn't mean that other program could work better and ...
