Weigert's iron haematoxylin stain

(Science: technique) A nuclear staining solution containing haematoxylin, ferric chloride, and hydrochloric acid; useful in combination with von Gieson's stain, especially for demonstrating connective tissue elements or entamoeba histolytica in sections.
