Woden the highest god of the Teutonic peoples, but identified with the Roman god Mercury; akin to OS. Wodan, OHG. Wuotan, Icel. Othinn, D. Woensdag Wednesday, Icel. Othinsdagr, Dan. & Sw. Onsdag.
