water molds

parasitic or saprobic organisms living chiefly in fresh water or moist soil.

multinucleated organisms that superficially resemble fungi but are now recognized as having an independent evolutionary lineage and are placed in the kingdom protista. Two important phyla: the chytrids (Chytridiomycota) and the oomycetes (Oomycota).

Growth on metal pot?!

maybe some kind of mold, be sure to clean your pot and dont have any food debri left on it.Soak it in warm water with detergent, and scrub, you can use chlorine also. ;)
