(zoology) Agkistrodon piscivorus, a venomous pit viper commonly found in or near water, such as the swamps and lowland regions of southern United States; cottonmouth


Supplement

Water moccasin is so buoyant that most of its body floats above the water. This characteristic of water moccasins identifies them from other water snakes.

Water moccasin's venom is dangerous, causing massive pain, skin discoloration and swelling around the bite marks.
