RNA isolation from brain sections

... brain regions to extract RNA. So, here are some questions: 1) any suggested RNA isolation kits/protocols for brain 2) suggestions for such small volumes of RNA 3) viability of RNA sectioned in cold buffer on a vibratome Overall I'd love to get a nice protocol together that optimizes my RNA recovery ...

Questions about DNA dialysis

... If you are not near the size cut off there shouldn't be much loss, I'd think, except the bit of volume stuck in the gizmo if you have small volumes, and perhaps a tad stuck in the pores. It should work by simply allowing the ions to diffuse across the membrane so that the initial volume ...

Deproteinizing plasma?

Hello! Here is a protocol currently used by a core facility for the deproteinization of small volumes of mouse plasma for measurement of plasma radiolabeled glucose: 1) Add 10 uL of plasma into 20 uL of dd water. 2) Add 25 uL of BaOH (0.3N from Sigma B4059) and then add ...

Nuclear protein purification

cV = cV right? So, you'll have: 2M . V1 = 5M . V2 2M/5M = V2/V1 -> ratio of original (5M stock) and final (your solution) volumes is 2 : 5. In other words, the 5M solution will make 2 parts of of 5 parts of 2M solution. Thus the solution to which you're adding the NaCl will make 3 ...

Using the pipette

Since your pipette is 50-200ul you should be able to adjust the setting to 100ul volumes. Assuming everything is calibrated you'll get accurate results. Also it helps to use tips that have graduation marks...usually a line on the tip that marks 10ul, 50ul, 100ul...etc.
