(Science: veterinary) A disease of brute animals, especially of horses, seated in the glands under the ear, where a tumour is formed which sometimes ends in suppuration.

Origin: OF. Vives, F. Avives (cf. Sp. Abivas, adiva) fr. Ar. Ad-dhiba. Cf. Fives vives.
