visual yellow --> all-trans-retinal

The orange retinaldehyde resulting from the action of light on the rhodopsin of the retina, which converts the 11-cis-retinal component of the rhodopsin to all-trans-retinal plus opsin.

Synonym: trans-retinal, visual yellow.
