(Science: physiology) principle of vis viva, living force; the force of a body moving against resistance, or doing work, in distinction from vis mortua, or dead force; the kinetic energy of a moving body; the capacity of a moving body to do work by reason of its being in motion. See kinetic energy, in the note under Energy. The term vis viva is not usually understood to include that part of the kinetic energy of the body which is due to the vibrations of its molecules. ![]()

brown substance without UV/VIS spectraThis is rather chemical/physical problem, but maybe someone of you may have some suggestion. The thing is we have a substance isolated from plant being white, the spectrum has two maxima in UV (<300nm), but when the substance was synthesized by chemists, it is brown. However, the spectrum is exac...

beers law concentration calculation... the entire question, I want to see if you guys get the same answer as me. When a pure peptide containing 3 Trp, 6 Tyr, and 1 Phe is placed in a UV/Vis spectrometer, the absorbance measured is 0.57. If there is 1mL of solution in a 1cm path-length cuvette, calculate the approximate concentration ...

Re: thin layer chromatographyIf you've easy access to a UV-Vis spec, you could scrape off the bands, elute them and take some spectra -- then assign the kids into the literature to find likely candidates. It could get complicated if some pigments are co-migrating, but ...

Re:... - that is why I recapped the angle of the organism's development and history. Here: If you take things for medical examination out of context (vis a vis it's development), you could say something has bad design. Considering how it could have got that way, is the part that confers some useful ...
