A method of plant propagation not through pollination or via seeds or spores but by way of separating new plant individuals that emerge from vegetative parts, such as specialized stems, leaves and roots and allow them to take root and grow.

This form of reproducing plants is commonly practiced by horticulturists to obtain quantities of economically valuable plants. Examples are vegetative propagation by growing new plants out of rhizomes or stolons (e.g. strawberry), or from new bulbs (e.g. tulips).
