vascular bundle

strand of vascular tissue in a plant, composed of xylem and phloem. A unit strand of the vascular system in stems and leaves of higher plants consisting essentially of xylem and phloem.The collective term used to describe the transport system of the plant, primarily consisting of [[xylem and [[phloem tissue.

Why is the xylem higher in the vascular bundle than the phloem? Are there any advantages?
