tympanic attic --> epitympanic recess

The upper portion of the tympanic cavity above the tympanic membrane; it contains the head of the malleus and the body of the incus.

Synonym: recessus epitympanicus, attic, epitympanic space, epitympanum, hyrtl's epitympanic recess, tympanic attic.
