Inhibition of RNA/DNA/protein synthesis

... I want to ask if there is a way to detect inhibition of macromolecules in bacteria by antibiotics with an non radioactive method. normally we use tritium-labelled leucine, thymidine, uridine. I know that these radioactive precursors are very sensitive, but is there a non radioactive method? Can ...

Re: isotope labelling of cells?

... have largely replaced radioactive isotopes in this. Another common method is putting isotopes in the medium, like Mith wrote. In our lab we use tritium-labelled thymidine, which the cells then incorporate into their dna and this can be measured with scintillation counters that measure beta decay. ...

The Fiber Disease

... accidents and releases into the environment with its radioactive materials. Our community now has elevated levels of plutonium in city parks and tritium (radioactive hydrogen) in our grapes and other agricultural products. Who is to say we won't have to contend with live anthrax spores and rare ...
