(Science: mathematics) A quantity consisting of three terms, connected by the sign _ or -; as, x _ y _ z, or ax _ 2b - c^2.

Origin: Pref. Tri- _ -nomial as in binomial: cf. F. Trinome.

(Science: mathematics) Consisting of three terms; of or pertaining to trinomials; as, a trinomial root.
